Why Our Accreditation is So Important

At the Animal Medical Center of Mid-America, we are committed to providing the best possible care for the pets we see. That includes owned animals and those who are at the Humane Society of Missouri, waiting for their forever homes. We are one of only 12% of veterinary clinics in the United States that is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).

Unlike hospitals for people, veterinary hospitals are not required to be accredited. But, we believe strongly in the importance of veterinary excellence and continued education. So it only makes sense that the Animal Medical Center of Mid-America is AAHA-accredited.

An AAHA-accredited practice undergoes extensive evaluations – 900 to be exact – and must address things like pain management, radiology, cleanliness and housekeeping, diagnostic testing, and dental care, to name a few. And, AAHA-accredited practices undergo evaluations every three years. The medical care standards designed by AAHA include:

• emergency services
• pain management
• contagious diseases
• surgery and anesthesia
• radiology services
• pathology services
• nursing care
• diagnostic and pharmacy
• dentistry
• examination facilities
• pet medical records
• medical library
• housekeeping and maintenance
